There are a few types of bridges that the dentist can choose from.

Onlay

This type of bridge is ideal for closing off very small gaps between teeth, or spaces caused by decay. They will utilize material from the surrounding teeth to create the false tooth itself as well as cement it into place.

Overlay 

This type of bridge will be slightly larger than the onlay, and they are perfect for closing gaps created by missing or broken teeth.

Cantilever

Cantilevers come in handy when there is one tooth on either side of the gap that can support a section of dental bridge. They will extend over the front teeth, but the back teeth bear the brunt of the weight and stress.

Implant Bridge

An implant supported prosthesis is ideal for closing wide spaces created by missing teeth.
